Lamb

The friesland is a prolific breed with multiple births the norm. Twins, triplets, quads and quins are all seen!!
They have excellent mothering ability and of course lots of milk! very important as they are born with relatively poorer bith coats than the hardy commercial breeds and tend to need a little more tlc at lambing time.

Though a little odd to visitors it is quite the norm for us to have lamb laid by the radiator or warming in the bottom oven!

We breed pure only enough ewes to provide us with replacement ewes, all others are bred to high index meat rams to produce lean, flavousome lamb for the freezer. Rams used are Beltex, Bleu de Maine and Rouge de l'ouest.
Prime lambs are sold through Louth Livestock Market aswell as direct to local abbatoirs and butchers. Lamb and mutton is also available boxed direct. We will post on the site when lambs are available to order, or feel free to contact us with your requirements.
